<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COMMISISON CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Updates on the New Brighton Interchange (New Brighton Elementary <br />Redevelopment) <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendations: No action needed <br />History: Nov 1999: City acquires 609 Old Highway 8 for future redevelopment <br /> Late 2016: City initiates 2040 Comprehensive Planning effort <br /> Aug 2017: City acquires the former New Brighton elementary school at 701 <br />8th Avenue NW for redevelopment <br /> July 2018: City acquires 629 Old Highway 8 for future redevelopment <br /> Dec 2018: City enters into purchase agreement for 581 Old Hwy 8, and the <br />two-year effort on the Comprehensive plan wraps up. <br />Financial Impact: Upon decertification of the TIF district in approximately 15 years, this land <br />(which has contributed relatively little to the local tax base in recent <br />decades) will become a significant contributor to the local tax rolls. <br />Summary: Staff will provide the EDC with updates on all recent happenings <br />surrounding the planned redevelopment of the New Brighton Interchange <br />area: 1) pending acquisition of 581 Old Highway 8; 2) site plan <br />adjustments from the developers; 3) projected timeline for applications & <br />development; 4) updates on funding; and 5) the upcoming rezoning step. <br />Attachments: A) Revised site plan <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />________________________ <br />Ben Gozola, AICP <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development <br />Agenda Section: VI <br />Item: 2 <br />Report Date: 12/27/18 <br /> Commission Meeting Date: 01/02/19
