REQUEST FOR COMMISISON CONSIDERATION

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Benedictine Health Center Expansion. An update from Staff on an exciting new
application that will significantly address a spectrum of senior housing needs
within the community.
DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL:
CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL:
No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___

Recommendations: No action needed.
Summary: The Benedictine Health Center has made application for a major expansion
to their existing operation at 1101 Black Oak Drive. New independent
living units (56), new assisted living units (40), and new assisted living
memory care units (24) would be added on to the existing campus if
approved. The continuum of care model provided at this location will
ensure local families can remain together in the face of late-life health
challenges.
Staff will utilize this opportunity to update the EDC on the proposal, and
will showcase the applicant’s SketchUp Animation to showcase how the
project will look upon completion.
The neighborhood meeting held in November suggests there is ample
public support from the surrounding neighborhood for the proposed
expansion.
The proposed changes are in line with the new 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Attachments: A) Benedictine Application Materials

________________________
Ben Gozola, AICP
Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development
Agenda Section: VI
Item: 3
Report Date: 12/27/18
Commission Meeting Date: 01/02/19
