<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COMMISISON CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Review of Demo Bids for NB Elementary <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendations: No action necessary <br /> <br />History: With the recent approval of the Preliminary PRD for Midtown Village and <br />the pending approval of the City’s new Comprehensive Plan, the doorway <br />is finally open for the project to proceed. <br /> Removal of the former New Brighton Elementary School and other existing <br />buildings on the development site must be completed prior to <br />commencement of development activities. <br /> Council authorized staff on 6/6/19 to seek bids from companies interested <br />in the work. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: The total cost of the abatement and demolition is estimated at $800,000. <br />These costs will be paid for by a City internal loan, which will be <br />reimbursed with land sale proceeds from the developers. <br /> <br />Summary: Plans are underway for significant re‐development work at the former New <br />Brighton Elementary now known as Midtown Village. Demolition work in the <br />coming weeks will allow development to begin. Responsible Contractors <br />were provided with available environmental surveys, and were invited for a <br />site visit to inspect the structures to be removed.
