EDC Meeting Minutes <br />February 5, 2020 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />V. Report from Council Liaison <br />Councilmember Allen provided the EDC with an update from the City Council. He stated <br />the Dominium portion of the Midtown Village project was underway. He discussed the <br />changes that would occur at Pike Lake Apartments noting the City has been working with <br />Ramsey County to try and connect these residents with new housing options. <br />VI. Business Items <br />A. Open To Business 2019 Year in Review <br />Gozola reported Noah Her, the City’s new Open To Business representative, was <br />present to provide the EDC with an overview of their activities in 2019, updates on the <br />recent transitions in service, and can answer any questions you have about the <br />program moving forward. <br />Noah Her, Open to Business representative, introduced himself to the Commission. <br />He explained in 2019 the County made itself available six times to residents and <br />business owners in New Brighton. He stated a total of 65 hours were invested in New <br />Brighton business owners. He stated 50% of his clients were women, 20% were <br />minorities and 20% were low income. He discussed the business types he was <br />working with and described the type of services he provided. He anticipated <br />additional services would be provided in 2020 given the fact full-time services would <br />now be provided by Ramsey County. He commented on the marketing materials that <br />were being created by the County for Open To Business and stated he was looking <br />forward to the coming year. <br />Discussion included: <br /> It was noted a glass blowing business would be moving into New Brighton. <br /> Mr. Her described how business owners could reach him for services. <br /> The Commission thanked Mr. Her for his efforts on behalf of New Brighton <br />business owners. <br />B. Baker Tilly TIF District Status Report <br />Gozola stated a representative from Baker Tilly in attendance to provide an update on <br />the status of current TIF districts in the City. Staff provided the Commission with a <br />draft “Summary of TIF Districts” report. <br /> <br />
