REQUEST FOR COMMISISON CONSIDERATION

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Benedictine Health Center Updates
DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL:
CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL:
No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___

Action Items: No action needed.

Overview: In 2019, the Benedictine Health Center received approval of a preliminary
PRD for a major expansion to their existing operation at 1101 Black Oak
Drive. Since that approval, Benedictine has acquired additional property
adjacent to their site which allows them to further address many of the
concerns voiced during last year’s approval.
The revised plan is consistent with the 2019 plan in terms of unit count. In
addition to the 66 transitional care units already on-site, the improvements
would add 56 independent living units, 40 assisted living units, 24 assisted
living memory care units, and 8 new double occupancy skilled nursing
units. The continuum of care model provided at this location will ensure
local families can remain together in the face of late-life health challenges.
Staff will utilize this opportunity to update the EDC on the revised
proposal, and will showcase how the project will look upon completion if
the revised plans move forward.
A neighborhood meeting held in mid-February suggests this new plan is
being welcomed by neighboring land owners.
The proposed plans are in line with the new 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

Attachments: 2020 Benedictine Application

Agenda Section: VI
Item: 1
Report Date: 02/24/20
Commission Meeting Date: 03/04/20
