<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />May 6, 2020 Via Zoom 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Axberg. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Pam Axberg (Chair), Amelia Kuiper, Matt Johnson, Abe <br />McEathron, Julia O’Rourke, Mike Santi, and Charles Warner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: None. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; and Council Member Emily Dunsworth. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by McEathron, seconded by Johnson, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion <br />carried 7-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by O’Rourke to approve the February 5, 2020 minutes as <br />presented. Motion carried 5-0-2 (Commissioner Santi and Chair Axberg abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Update on COVID-19 Impacts on Operations – Jennifer Fink, Director <br /> <br />Director Fink stated provided the Commission with a presentation on how COVID-19 was <br />impacting Parks and Recreation operations in New Brighton. She reported all City facilities <br />closed to the public on Friday, March 13th and have remained closed since this date. She <br />explained all essential City services are still being provided. She indicated the City’s <br />emergency management staff has been working incredibly well on behalf of the community. <br />She commented on how staff has been impacted since March 13th and explained <br />Community Center members were not being charged membership dues for April or May. It <br />was noted all temporary seasonal staff has been laid off as of April 30 th. She stated all <br />programming has been canceled through June 1st. She anticipated all senior programming <br />would be held virtually or canceled through the summer, except for the modified hiking <br />club. She reported the golf course opened on April 18th and green fees have been lowered
