I <br />BRIGHTON <br />building tomorrow today <br />REQUEST FOR WORKSESSION CONSIDERATION <br />Agenda Section: <br />n/a <br />Item: <br />1 <br />Report Date: <br />1/28/21 <br />Worksession Meeting Date: <br />2/4/21 <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Annotated Outline Review and Steering Committee Discussion <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br />Deadline: ■ As a City driven process, there will be no official deadlines that must be <br />met throughout the duration of this project. <br />Recommendations: • New Council member introduction to existing Annotated Outline <br />• Direct staff on process/priorities for the project steering committee <br />History: • The City's current zoning code dates back to the late 1970's, and is greatly <br />in need of an update to address a multitude of issues. <br />• Completion and approval of the new Comprehensive Plan in 2019 <br />established a new vision for the community which can be supported by an <br />updated and revised zoning ordinance. <br />• During the last quarter of 2019, the City completed the minimum updates <br />needed to bring the zoning ordinance into compliance with the new <br />comprehensive plan as required by state law. <br />• Prior to the project being officially green -lit by Council, other more <br />pressing matters suddenly faced the City (City Manager search and the <br />COVID-19 pandemic response). Project was put on -hold. <br />• Project was relaunched in September of 2020 with Council approval of an <br />Annotated Outline for the project. Implementation was put on -hold until <br />after the election to ensure a new Council (if there was turnover) had a say <br />in the process. <br />
