Presentation from John Connelly, President Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce <br />John Connelly, President of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce, thanked the Council for their time. He <br />stated he appreciated the resources the City of New Brighton provided to its local businesses during the <br />pandemic. He reviewed the vision for the Chamber of Commerce and described how he works with the <br />business community. He discussed the work he does with the New Brighton Business Council and explained <br />he always enj oyed attending grand openings and ground breaking ceremonies. He indicated he works to visit <br />local businesses in a safe manner each week and noted he spoke with DEED on a weekly basis to learn about <br />grant opportunities. He stated he was proud of the annual social event that was held in December of 2020, <br />noting $6,500 was raised for two local food shelves. He commented on the challenge's businesses faced in <br />2020 because of the pandemic and stated he looked forward to the economy recovering. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth thanked Mr. Connelly for his presentation. She appreciated learning more about <br />how the Chamber of Commerce was working with and helping local business owners. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas thanked Mr. Connelly for inviting her to attend the December Chamber of <br />Commerce meeting. She explained the City was alert to some of the challenges they were facing but <br />encouraged the Chamber to keep the City apprised of any new challenge's businesses were facing. She asked <br />how many businesses in New Brighton were a part of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Connelly reported 35 <br />New Brighton businesses were a part of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
