Assessment of Need 15CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON PARK AND TRAIL SYSTEM MASTER PLAN - DRAFT
Nearby Regional Recreation
Since New Brighton is situated within a metro area, there are a number of regional recreation
opportunities that are available to residents of New Brighton. These parks and facilities may be
operated by a county (Ramsey or Anoka). Adjacent cities and private entities offer recreation
as well, sometimes with an additional fee involved. Refer to Map 2.4 for locations of regional
recreation. Below is a list of regional recreation opportunities, not managed by the City of New
Brighton:
Regional Parks
Long Lake Regional Park
Long Lake Regional Park is managed by Ramsey County Parks and located within the City of
New Brighton on the eastern shoreline of Long Lake. The regional park includes a large pavilion
(with event rental space), 3 miles of trails, a swimming beach, shelter, multiple playgrounds, a
boat launch, fishing pier, ballfield, and the historic railroad center. Lions Park property, owned
and operated by the city of New Brighton, adjoins the regional park. The city has shared use
agreements for portions of Lions Park including the parking lot. There are plans for a future
pavilion and restroom building adjacent to Lions Park to be developed jointly with Ramsey
County Parks.
694
35W
35WLon
g
L
a
k
e Rus
h
L
a
k
e
Highway 96Old Hwy 8Long Lake Rd
Beach Rd
Rice Creek W
Reg.
