Assessment of Need 44CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON PARK AND TRAIL SYSTEM MASTER PLAN - DRAFT
ARCHITECTURAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT
The purpose of the architectural needs assessment was to review and analyze the existing
conditions of buildings used by the Parks and Recreation department. The review provides a
base architectural assessment of the existing spaces including entries, accessibility, building
codes, condition of the envelope, maintenance concerns and life safety.
Architects visited each building, reviewed relevant codes and met with Parks and Recreation
staff. Stakeholder interviews were conducted with community center staff, parks and recreation
programming staff, and the golf course clubhouse supervisor to gain an understanding of
existing issues and programming needs.
Architectural assessments were completed for six buildings including City Hall/Community
Center, Brightwood Hills Golf Course clubhouse and the four neighborhood center park
buildings at Hansen, Totem Pole, Sunny Square and Freedom parks.
The individual building assessments are included in the Appendix of this document.
