Assessment of Need 26CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON PARK AND TRAIL SYSTEM MASTER PLAN - DRAFT
ATHLETIC ASSESSMENT
The planning study focused on assessing the existing athletics and making recommendations
for continued improvements to better meet the local athletic needs. Athletic facilities within
New Brighton were analyzed to determine available capacity, geographical location and overall
condition. While the planning process included some input from the school district and the city’s
recreational programming, more in-depth data was not able to be gathered for usage analysis
and therefore, the city should continue to reach out to local stakeholders and associations prior
to making any decisions on improvements or modifications to athletic facilities.
The recommendations of this system plan are primarily based on evaluations of existing
athletic facilities on city park property and any changes
to athletic facilities and programming will need to
be monitored to ensure that the future recreational
needs are being met according to current trends and
participation rates. The recommendations provide
suggestions for balancing the types of athletics available,
as well as improving conditions of facilities.
Any changes to athletic facilities and programming will
need to be monitored to ensure that future recreational
needs are being met.
