<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COMMISISON CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Comprehensive Plan Zoning Updates: Initial review of the new comprehensive <br />plan differences with existing zoning, and required ordinance changes that will <br />need to be considered in the coming year. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />15.99 Deadline: None <br />Recommendations: No action at this time <br />Legislative History: Late 2016: City initiates Comprehensive Planning process <br /> Mid 2018: Draft plan finalized and distributed for review and comment <br /> December 2018: Draft plan approved and forwarded to Met Council for <br />compliance check against regional system plans <br /> July 10, 2019: Plan approved by Met Council, and City authorized to put <br />the plan into effect <br /> July 23, 2019: New plan officially put into effect by the City Council <br />Financial Impact: Substantial. The new comprehensive plan guides the future of development <br />in the community for the next decade, and sets out the myriad of goals the <br />City seeks to achieve with each project. <br />Summary: With the new comprehensive plan now in effect, the City has nine months to <br />review and update its zoning ordinance to be in compliance with the new <br />plan.
