December 10, 2019 Page 9 of 9 Councilmember Dunsworth reported she attended a cable commission meeting last Thursday where the group discussed and approved the 2020 budget. She explained the Planning Commission would be meeting next on Tuesday, December 17th. Graeme Allen Councilmember Allen reported the EDC did not meet in December and their next scheduled meeting would be held on Wednesday, January 8th. He thanked the Council and staff for a great year and wished everyone a Happy New Year. Mayor Johnson Mayor Johnson reported she attended the Public Safety Commission meeting on Monday, December 9th. She explained the Public Safety Department was working on its Santa Cop program and noted 23 families would be served this year, with a total of 57 children. She indicated the City of New Brighton was awarded third place for National Night Out. She congratulated the City and its residents of this great accomplishment. She updated the public on the process that would be followed for the hiring of a new City Manager. She explained she attended the Employee Appreciation Breakfast. She thanked all employees for the great work they do on behalf of the City of New Brighton. She commented on the ice castles that would be coming to the City and stated they would be completed by the first week of January. She discussed how she has invited 27 restauranteurs to come together to create a restaurant guide for the thousands of people that would be visiting the ice castles. She thanked Acting City Manager Massopust and Finance Director Davitt for the great work they were conducting on behalf of the City. She wished everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
