<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: RESOLUTION ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF A FEASIBILITY STUDY <br />FOR CITY PROJECT 20‐1, 2020 STREET REHABILITATION <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting – Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: To adopt the attached resolution ordering staff to prepare a Feasibility Study <br />for City Project 20‐1, 2020 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> <br />Legislative History: The City Council adopted a Comprehensive Street Plan in 1980 and recently <br />updated the plan as part of the New Brighton 2040 Comprehensive Plan creating a means by which <br />to improve and maintain high quality streets and alleys within the City. The streets considered for <br />rehabilitation in 2020 have been identified by City staff as needing replacement in 2020 based on <br />their age and pavement condition. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: The financial impact to the City and residents will be included in the Feasibility <br />Study. This project, if approved, will be funded from a combination of City of New Brighton general <br />taxes, special assessments, and utility improvement funds. <br /> <br />Explanation: New Brighton streets are typically reconstructed when they reach approximately <br />30‐years old. The streets to be included in City Project 20‐1, 2020 Street Rehabilitation are shown <br />on the attached map. The purpose of this item is for Council to adopt a resolution to direct staff <br />to prepare a Feasibility Study as required for Public Improvement Hearings for City Project 20‐1. <br />The Feasibility Study will be presented to the Council when complete, and if accepted, staff will <br />schedule a Public Improvement Hearing. <br /> <br />Costs and Funding: Estimated project costs, funding sources, and methodology used to calculate <br />individual assessments for affected parcels will be included in the Feasibility Study. <br /> <br /> <br />________________________________________ <br />Craig Schlichting, P.E. <br />Director of Community Assets and Development <br />AGENDA SECTION: Consent <br />REPORT DATE: December 16, 2019 <br />MEETING DATE: January 14, 2020
