He reported public buildings would remain closed through May 1st in the best interest <br />of the communities health. He thanked residents for their understanding through this difficult <br />time. He discussed the efforts of the New Brighton Community Resource Group and how this <br />group was working together to assist the most vulnerable individuals in the community. He <br />stated he was extremely proud of his fellow coworkers and thanked them for being flexible <br />during these trying times. He thanked the Mayor and City Council for their strong leadership <br />on behalf of the entire community. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg thanked City staff for all of their tremendous efforts. She stated these <br />were tough times and would be for some time. She noted she attended a Ramsey County <br />League of Local Government meeting two weeks ago where Met Council Chair Charlie Zelle <br />was the guest speaker. She reported she would be attending an NYFS meeting online this <br />Thursday. She indicated the new Executive Director, Tara Sing, would be introduced at this <br />meeting. She wished everyone health and safety at this time. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported these were very trying times for the community. He stated <br />the last time the country faced an epidemic like this was back in 1819. He explained it was <br />eerie seeing the community completely closed down. He stated America has been faced with <br />tough times in the past but this country will bounce back. He thanked Finance Director Brenda <br />Davitt for her dedicated service to the City of New Brighton and wished here all the best in her <br />retirement. He congratulated City Manager Massopust for being appointed to his new position. <br />He stated he looked forward to working with City Manager Massopust. He sent his thanks to <br />all who went through the City Manager hiring process and stated he appreciated the efforts of <br />the consulting firm as well. <br /> <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth congratulated City Manager Massopust on his new position. She <br />thanked Finance Director Davitt for her tremendous service to the City of New Brighton and <br />wished her well in her retirement. She encouraged residents to be careful of the sources they <br />are seeking online regarding COVID-19. She explained accurate information was available <br />online on the Johns Hopkins and University of Minnesota websites. She encouraged everyone <br />to stay home and stay healthy. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen encouraged all residents to stay home, stay safe, practice social <br />distancing and good hygiene. He thanked City staff for all of their efforts and for creating the <br />New Brighton Community Resource Group to assist the vulnerable in the community. He <br />encouraged residents to check in on their neighbors. He congratulated Finance Director Davitt <br />on her retirement and thanked her for her dedicated service to the City of New Brighton. He <br />also congratulated City Manager Massopust for being appointed to his new role. He stated he <br />appreciated the strong leadership City Manager Massopust has demonstrated. He thanked all <br />of the great candidates that applied for this position. He reminded residents to fill out their <br />census information. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported 29% of Minnesotan’s have filled out their census information. She <br />encouraged residents to take the time and fill out the census. She explained the deadline for <br />Real ID has been extended and more information on this topic would be forthcoming.
