From:no-reply@www.newbrightonmn.gov
To:Devin Massopust
Subject:City Council Vacancy Application of Interest - New Form Submission for New Brighton MN
Date:Thursday, April 16, 2020 7:59:40 PM
A new submission has been received for City Council Vacancy Application
of Interest at 04/16/2020 7:59 PM
First Name:Robert
Last Name:Benke
Email Address:bobbenke@comcast.net
Phone:16516312022
Address:301 Wexford Heights Drive
City:New Brighton
State/Province:MN
Country:US
Zip Code:55112
What is your
background as it
relates to
community
involvement
within New
Brighton?:
We have lived in New Brighton over 50 years. When we moved I
traansfered from Roseville Jayceees. I later served on the Citizen's Study,
Served 8 years as Councilmember and 14 years as Mayor. After leaving
office I have served on either the Community Development or Public
Safety Commmissions. While in office I reperesented the City on the
LMC Board and as it's president along with many other city related
organizations. I have worked with our neighboring city officials and our
elected County, State and federal officials. I am currrently also a member
of the North Metro Chanber of Commerce & member of their Public
Policy Commitee. I am also a member of the Eagles Club, serve on the
ACR Board of Directors and a non voting member of the Stockyard Days
Board. We are active members of Christ the King Lutheran Church and a
member of the Sanctuary Choir.
Why are you
interested in
serving on the
City Council?:
Given the many challenges facing our World, State, Nation & the
anticipated fallout impacts on our citizens and City, we have some
difficult decisions near term. I believe that the Council needs to have an
"All Hands on Deck" strategy and 5 experienced decision makers. I am
willing to help fill that need and do not plan to run in the next election.
What are your
top 3-5 policy
priorities for the
City?:
1) Maintaining open and honest communications with residents &
businesses. 2)
What are your
goals as a
Councilmember
for the remainder
of 2020?:
1) Dealing with financial impacts of the Corona-19 fall out, including
possible state revenue cuts. 2) Maintaining high level of services despite
financail and social turmoil. 3 Work together with Mayor, Council &
staff to provide the best services we can given circumstances that may
likely be beyond our control.
The Council
enjoys great
