4 <br />4.Interactions -Commission members shall refrain from abusive conduct, personal <br />charges orverbal attacks upon the character ormotives ofother members of the city <br />council, boards, commissions, committees, staff or the public. <br />5.Respect for Process -Commission member duties shall be performed in accordance <br />with the processes and rules of order established by the city council. <br />6.UseofPublicResources -Publicresourcesthatarenotavailabletothegeneralpublic <br />(e.g.citystafftime,equipment,suppliesorfacilities)shallnotbeusedbycommission <br />members for private, personal or political purposes. <br />7.Advocacy -Tothebestoftheirability,commissionmembersshallspeakwithonevoice <br />inrepresenting the official policies and positions ofthe commission. <br />8.Improper Influence -Commission members shall refrain from using their positionto <br />improperly influence the deliberations or decision of city council, city staff, boards, <br />commission or committees. <br />9.Positive Work Environment -Commission members shall support a positive, efficient <br />and effective environment for residents, businesses and city employees. <br />Communication <br />1.Sharingof Information -It istheresponsibility ofcommission members topublicly <br />shareinformation withallothercommissionmembersthatserveontheirrespective <br />commissionthattheyhavereceivedfromsourcesoutsideofthepublicdecision-making <br />process whichpertains to atopicunder consideration. Whenever possible, new <br />information ordataobtained bycommissionmembers, pertinent toatopicbeing <br />discussed, willbedistributed throughthestaffliaisonorcitymanager totheother <br />commission members. Upon reviewing the new information, the commission mayadopt <br />amotiontopostponefurtherconsiderationoftheinformationuntilallmembershavehad <br />time to review andinterpret this new information. <br />2. FocusedDiscussions -Commissionmembersshallworktokeepdiscussionsanddebates <br />focusedontheitemunderdiscussionwithout introducingextraneous orirrelevant <br />information. <br />3. RequestforInformation -Allcommissionmembersshallreceivethesameinformation <br />at the same time when deemed for distribution bystaff. <br />4.Confidential Information -Commission members shall respect and preserve the <br />confidentialityofnon-public, protected non-public, private, andconfidential information <br />provided to them concerning matters of the city. They shall neither discloseconfidential <br />information without proper legal authorization nor use suchinformation to advancetheir <br />personal, financial or private interests. <br />5.Notice of Attendance -Ifany commission member has knowledge or reason to believe <br />that there will be a largeor emotional attendance at anupcoming commission meeting, <br />they have an obligation to inform the staff liaison as soon as they become aware of the <br />potential situation.
