<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Special Proclamation naming Pat Tuma as a City Ambassador upon her <br />retirement <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Jennifer Fink, Director of Park and Recreation <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: Devin Massopust <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Ask Mayor Johnson on behalf of the City Council to name Pat Tuma, Recreation Supervisor, as a City <br />Ambassador upon her retirement after 35 1/2 years of service to the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />None <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />None <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />Pat Tuma began her career in Parks and Recreation on January 21, 1985. She has been a witness and <br />colleague to all four of the Parks and Recreation Directors the City has ever known. She has seen the <br />building of the Family Service Center, now the Community Center, the introduction of computers, <br />online registration, cell phones and more to our profession. Just recently, when news of her <br />retirement reached the local Neighborly New Brighton Facebook group, one resident mentioned <br />“Anyone with kids in New Brighton knows that Pat Tuma runs the show! We will miss her greatly!” Pat <br />is an institution within New Brighton Parks and Recreation, having supervised all areas of recreation <br />programming within the department at some point. <br /> <br />Per the City Employee Handbook, Section 33.3, employees who retire with 20+ years of service are to <br />names as a City Ambassador by the City Council.
