13 <br />On Friday August 16, the Fire Division hosted the annual Story Time at the Fire Station. <br />As in years past, the event was very well attended. Director Paetznick read a story to the <br />children while Firefighter Jon Hedberg assisted him by putting on firefighter gear to <br />show the kids. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VI. BIAS CRIME REPORTS <br /> <br />This section will contain any information regarding bias and/or hate crimes in the Cit y of <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />No bias crimes to report this month. <br /> <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />In the month of August, the Explorer unit assisted with Stockyard Days and a Bike <br />Rodeo. <br /> <br />In the month of August, the Reserve unit donated 297 hours of time with a large amount <br />of these hours spent during Stockyard Days. <br /> <br />The Reserve unit promoted Nick Super to Lieutenant. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT).
