11 <br /> <br />Fire Marshal LaMotte, Public Safety Officer Rother and Community Engagement Officer <br />Krebsbach provided a station tour for 50 children from Global Academy, the new charter <br />school that just recently moved to New Brighton. <br /> <br />On Monday, September 23, members of Public Safety provided an escort for residents of <br />Benedictine Health Care as they participated in the annual Alzheimer’s walk in their <br />neighborhood. This walk is to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and takes place on the city <br />streets surrounding Benedictine Health Care every year at the start of fall. <br /> <br /> <br />VI. BIAS CRIME REPORTS <br /> <br />This section will contain any information regarding bias and/or hate crimes in the City of <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />No bias crimes to report this month. <br /> <br /> <br />VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to Public <br />Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police Reserves, <br />Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br /> <br />On Wednesday, September 11, the Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) hosted a blood <br />drive in the upper level of the Community Center. Several city staff, residents and others <br />attended and provided 29 pints of blood that the Red Cross with distribute to those that <br />are in need. <br /> <br />Public Safety provided support at the St. John’s Fall Festival from Friday, September 27, <br />to Sunday, September 29. Police Reserves attended to provided security at the event and <br />the Fire Division brought a fire truck to provide truck tours. <br /> <br />Volunteers in Public Safety Gayle Christensen and Carol Bauer represented Public Safety <br />at the recent Thrive Expo at the Community Center. They handed out important literature <br />regarding the new hands free cell phone law, some information about the 2020 census <br />and other items.
