She stated she would also like
the Council to consider how to engage young people in the City. She indicated she would also like to discuss
crime because it was on the rise all around the country. She believed it would be valuable to inform the public
on the facts surrounding crime in New Brighton.
Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas stated the City had posted an opening for student commissioners in order to get
youth in the community engaged in local government.
Councilmember Allen explained he supported Councilmember Dunsworth's recommended topics.
Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas suggested the Council discuss a strategic plan for 2021 and 2022, along with a score
card for the City. She indicated she would like the Council to briefly review the norms of behavior at a future
meeting.
Councilmember Abdulle supported the City pursuing a student member on each Commission.
Worksession adjourned at 6:31 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Terri Spangrud
City Clerk
