Councilmember Abdulle supported this recommendation as well and wanted the City to remain transparent
throughout this entire process. He encouraged the City to seek feedback from the public whether they are
people who rent or people who live in the neighborhood of rental properties. Massopust commented on the
channels the City would use to advertise this topic to the public in order to gain feedback. In addition, the City
Council would hold a public hearing prior to approving this Ordinance.
Massopust asked if the Council wanted to have this Ordinance reviewed by the Planning Commission.
Councilmember Dunsworth stated she did not see the need for the Planning Commission to review this item if
the City would be requesting City feedback and the Council would be holding a public hearing.
Councilmember Allen supported the Council having more eyes reviewing this Ordinance and for this reason he
supported the Planning Commission reviewing the draft Ordinance.
Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas thanked the Council for their detailed conversation on this topic and stated she
appreciated staff's efforts on the draft Ordinance.
Worksession adjourned at 6:19 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Terri Spangrud
City Clerk
