February 9, 2021 Page 1 of 6 <br />1 FW <br />BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />building tomorrow today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />February 9, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Due to the COVID-19 <br />pandemic this hybrid meeting was held both virtually and in person. <br />Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Allen, Axberg, and Dunsworth <br />Absent: <br />Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Gina Smith -Interim <br />Finance Director, Ben Gozola-Assistant Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />Call to Order Call to Order <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Approval of the Febnlaly 9, 2021 Council Agenda <br />Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Allen to approve <br />the agenda as submitted. <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Special Order of Business <br />1. EDC 2020 Year in Review <br />Chair Harry Carter provided the Council with the annual report from the EDC for 2020. He discussed the <br />background and purpose of the EDC. He reviewed the issues the EDC addressed last year and noted COVID <br />relief was a primary focus and noted they started a business outreach program. He thanked Assistant Director <br />of Community Assets and Development Gozola for serving the EDC well. He commented on the activities <br />the EDC would be addressing in 2021, which included further reaching out to local businesses and addressing <br />the placement of monument or gateway signs. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Chair Carter and the entire EDC for their efforts on behalf of the community. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas asked what the timeline was for the monument signs.
