December 8, 2020 Page 10 of 10 <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported she attended the PREC meeting on Wednesday, <br />December 2, 2020. She explained this group discussed the park scholarship program. She <br />noted she attended a Cable Commission meeting last week and noted this group discussed the <br />lawsuit with Comcast. She stated she was looking forward to 2021 and indicated it has been a <br />pleasure to serve on the City Council in 2020. <br />Nasreen Fynewever <br />Councilmember Fynewever thanked all of the Directors and Assistant Directors for their <br />assistance over the past year. She appreciated Director Paetznick and the tour he provided her. <br />She thanked Director Paetznick for being receptive to her comments and ideas. She thanked <br />Director Fink for her outstanding service to the community. She stated it had been an honor to <br />serve the City of New Brighton. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would not be meeting in <br />December. He thanked all of the Commission members that volunteer to serve the community. <br />He stated it has been a pleasure to serve with these individuals over the years. He thanked the <br />residents of New Brighton who elected him to serve as a City Councilmember. He encouraged <br />residents to get out and participate in the Gnome Hunt in Hansen Park. He appreciated the <br />tremendous amount of joy this event was bringing to the community. He thanked the Parks <br />and Recreation Department and Director Fink for their efforts on behalf of New Brighton. He <br />thanked staff for all of their efforts and wished everyone a Happy Holidays. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson stated 2020 has been a tough year due to COVID-19. She explained she had <br />COVID several weeks back and faired very well with it. She encouraged residents to be safe <br />and mask up. <br />Mayor Johnson indicated this was her final meeting with the City Council. She thanked the <br />citizens of New Brighton for trusting her to lead the Council over the past five years. She <br />hoped she had served the community well. She thanked each of the local elected officials she <br />had served with. She thanked all of the City employees for providing stellar service to the <br />community. She stated she appreciated the City’s Leadership Team and the great job they <br />were doing for New Brighton. She thanked former City Manager Lotter and present City <br />Manager Massopust for working with her in a trusting manner. She thanked her fellow <br />Councilmembers and City Attorney Sonsalla for sticking with her and for completing great <br />work on behalf of the community. She thanked each of the Commissioners who serve on <br />behalf of the City. She thanked her friends and family for being patient while she served as the <br />City’s mayor. She then reviewed a countdown of the top ten things she was most proud of <br />accomplishing over the past five years. She stated she was most proud of the great work that <br />was done in Hansen Park.
