VII. VOLUNTEER SERVICES <br />This section contains information on our various volunteer organizations related to <br />Public Safety. This includes the activities of the Public Safety Commission, Police <br />Reserves, Police Explorers, and Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). <br />Activity for the month includes the following: <br />The Volunteers in Public Safety reported that they completed 82 sets of fingerprints in <br />2014 primarily for residents who need to submit them for background investigations for <br />employment, licensing or adoption processes. Nice work! <br />Officer McNeely reports that the total hours for the Police Explorers in 2014 is 1,309 <br />hours. This included hours volunteering at NNO, Stockyard Days, A DQ fundraiser, <br />grocery bagging, St. Paul Bike Classic, Santa Cop, as well as trainings and meetings. <br />There are 13 active Police Explorers. The group is also led by Officer Aaron Slack. <br />The Volunteers in Public Safety donated 169 hours in December and donated a total of <br />1,338.25 hours in 2014! VIP are led by Deputy Chief Hamdorf. <br />The Police Reserves donated 46.25 hours in December for a year end total of 1,607 <br />hours! The Police Reserves are under the direction of Officer Brad Krebsbach <br />VIII. HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />This section will review ongoing activities for homeland security and emergency <br />management. This includes the activities of the New Brighton Community Emergency <br />Response Teams (CERT). <br />No items to report. <br />IX. TRAINING <br />This section will review the training activities of our Public Safety personnel for the <br />month. <br />Officer Matt Farmer and Officer Tom Nerison attended training for the "Warrior's <br />Edge". <br />Officer Wakasugi attended training for "Crime Scene Processing for Law Enforcement". <br />Sgt. Nelson conducted firearms training for the police division on December 2nd and 3rd <br />with a focus on clearing weapons malfunctions/stoppages with duty weapons and long <br />guns. <br />On December 5th Deputy Director Paetznick was a guest instructor at the MN Chiefs of <br />Police "Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Command" training course at Camp Ripley. <br />His topic was Volunteerism in Public Safety Organizations. <br />X <br />
