Chief Al Bauer. <br />Deputy Director Paetznick and Director Jacobson attended the annual International <br />Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference. <br />Officer Craig and Officer Wakasugi attended training for Crisis Intervention Techniques <br />(CIS). <br />Sgt. Nelson and Officer B.J. DeBoer attended the annual Toward Zero Death conference. <br />Sgt. Emerson attended training for Mentoring and Coaching which is part of the BCA <br />Supervision and Management series. <br />Officer Voeller attended training for "Understanding the People of Somalia". <br />Det. Matthew DeBoer and Office Technician Jody Boyd attended raining for Federal and <br />State Laws: Carry Laws for the Front Lines". <br />X. OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE <br />This section will review the ongoing administrative issues and meetings during the <br />month. This includes meetings, policy issues, ordinance changes, and personnel issues. <br />And, this also includes meetings of a county wide, regional, and/or statewide basis on <br />public safety related issues. <br />Engine 494, a 1986 Luverne Fire Truck which is in the process of being replaced was <br />sold to the Kabetogama Fire Department, our highest and only bidder. The KFD picked <br />up the truck on October 13th and drove it to its new home. <br />Engine 494 leaving the station for the last time <br />Our thanks to Officer Layton who along with his fellow LEMA members assisted with <br />the funeral of Deputy Steven Sandberg in Aitkin on Friday, October 23rd. Deputy <br />Sandberg was murdered while guarding a domestic assault suspect in a St. Cloud <br />hospital. Officer Layton not only received the honor of escorting Deputy Sandberg's <br />ashes, but, he also assisted with the flag folding ceremony. Nice work Officer Layton, <br />thank you (photo on cover page). <br />14 <br />
