Commissioner Schumann asked of the 2014 statistics could be compared with 2013. Mr. Matteson <br />stated he would bring this information for next month's meeting. <br />Mr. Matteson reported their new Shoreview location was up and running as of last week. They will run <br />some statistics in a couple of weeks to verify their rig locations. <br />Mr. Matteson reported they have been doing a lot of recognitions recently between lifesaving awards <br />and stork awards. Allina is also participating in a lot of active shooter drills around the metro area. <br />Commissioner Eichers asked what impact road construction has on Allina. Mr. Matteson reported that <br />road construction happens all the time so they prepare the best they can for road closures, etc. The <br />hardest part is to keep the crews up to date on road construction but they are used to this and stay aware <br />of changing road restrictions. <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (YIPS) <br />Commissioner Allen reported there is a blood drive scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, from 1:00-6:00 <br />pm here in the Training Room. <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson noted the following items: <br />➢ A new CAD and a new RMS system were implemented last week; CAD on Tuesday and RMS <br />on Wednesday. Staff is busy learning this new technology. This was our biggest technology <br />change at one time in the history of our agency. <br />➢ The second annual Public Safety Department Meeting was held on March 2. Officer Farmer was <br />named Police Officer of the Year and Fire Captain Mike Schute was named Firefighter of the <br />Year. This year our speaker was the Commissioner of Public Safety, Mona Dohman. <br />➢ Firefighter Damon Trull and Detective Matthew DeBoer are both training and plan to run their <br />first marathons at the Minneapolis Marathon. <br />➢ Retired Firefighter and former city employee, Al Bauer, passed away unexpectedly on March <br />20th and his funeral was on March 25th. He was a 20 year member of the fire division and a <br />longtime Fire Chief. Al had been retired for several years. <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br />Council Member Mary Burg noted the following items: <br />➢ Council continues to work on urban farming but need a full work session to complete this; <br />hopefully in April. <br />➢ Council met with the Economic Development Commission to discuss what the future of New <br />Brighton is. Council talked about meeting with each commission and they are also going to take <br />Council meetings out to the community. The first one will be at Applewood Point. <br />➢ The City has signed a new agreement with the City of St. Anthony to provide inspections for <br />them. <br />➢ The Rice Creek Watershed District applied for and received a grant of Legacy Funds; this <br />presentation is online if you want to view it. <br />➢ The Town Hall meeting is scheduled for May 2. <br />➢ Beginning in April, Brian Strub will be the council liaison for the Public Safety Commission. <br />Council Member Burg thoroughly enjoyed being here and thanked all commissioners. <br />
