CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON Proclamation <br />WHEREAS Nasreen Fynewever was appointed to the City Council on May 12, 2020 and her time on the City Council has been filled <br />with firsts including having the distinction of being the first person of color to serve on the New Brighton City Council; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS Nasreen decided to step up and give her time to fill-in during an important time for the City and our community at large; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS Nasreen used her experiences as an educator and an advocate to provide valuable insight, leadership, and guidance to the <br />community and organization during a tumultuous year; and, <br />WHEREAS During her short time on the New Brighton City Council Nasreen has left a lasting impact on the City of New Brighton <br />through her important work and input into decisions including ensuring that we had a safe and efficient election by <br />designating certain polling places in New Brighton; approving and adopting a COVID-19 preparedness plan; appointing <br />various commissioners to New Brighton advisory commissions; approving a tenant notification ordinance; creating <br />various programs to distribute the City’s CARES funding; approving the Comprehensive Park System Plan; and playing <br />an important role in creating the 2021 annual budget; and, <br />WHEREAS her dedication and desire to bettering our community for all will certainly continue having already left a positive impact <br />on her community even though her term has come to an end, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, VALERIE JOHNSON, Mayor of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minnesota, do hereby present this proclamation thanking <br />Nasreen Fynewever <br />For her service to the City of New Brighton. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the <br />Seal of the City of New Brighton, Minnesota to be affixed this <br />8th day of December 2020. <br />h <br />_________________________________________________ <br /> VALERIE JOHNSON – MAYOR
