<br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: PROCLAMATION AND RECOGNITION OF DAN O’CONNELL’S 18 YEARS <br />OF SERVICE <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting – Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Ask Mayor Johnson on behalf of the City Council to present Dan O’Connell, Mechanic, with a <br />proclamation for his 18 years of service to the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />None <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />Dan began his career with the City of New Brighton on August 19, 2002 working full time as a fleet <br />mechanic. He has spent nearly two decades ensuring that the entire fleet remained serviceable <br />and mission ready. Dan worked on everything from fire trucks to chainsaws. He has also done an <br />excellent job of managing our hazardous waste and fuels for the city. Dan will be enjoying <br />retirement starting January 1, 2021 with his wife Karen, daughter Dawn, and son Zack. <br /> <br />Per the City Employee Handbook, Section 33.3, employees who resign from the City with 10‐19 <br />years of service are to receive a framed proclamation from the City Council.
