Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Frischman <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members Present: Commissioners Cook, Eischen, Fields, Frischman, Kunesh-Podein <br />and Council Liaison Strub <br /> Members Absent: Commissioners Brunell and Parker <br />Also Present: Sandy Breuer, Director of Parks and Recreation; Chris Wolla, Parks <br />Superintendent and Scott Yonke, Director of Planning and Development Ramsey County <br /> <br />III. Minutes of January 7, 2015 <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER KUNESH-PODEIN, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />FIELDS, TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 7, 2015 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br /> <br />IV. Correspondence <br />None. <br /> <br />V. Old Business <br />None. <br /> <br />VI. New Business <br />A. Rice Creek North Regional Trail Extension – Scott Yonke, Director of Planning and <br />Development Ramsey County. <br />Director Breuer introduced Scott Yonke. Ramsey County held a public open house with <br />about 60 in attendance. Scott Yonke addressed PREC and mentioned the following: <br /> Project scheduled to be implemented this year. <br /> Currently in the design/development stage. Working on components now. <br /> 2011 received Federal grant for trail connection at County Road H down into <br />Long Lake Regional Park. <br /> 10 ft. bituminous trail with 2 ft. buffer; connections to trail are 8 ft. <br /> Pedestrian bridge over Rice Creek and then a trail <br /> Connecting trail to Townsedge Mobile Home Park and one to Poppyseed St. <br />providing access to Irondale High School. <br /> Proposing boardwalk over large wetland area. <br /> Another pedestrian bridge will be over the railway. <br /> There is a large grade in that area and trying to make it ADA accessible. The <br />entire trail needs to comply with Federal guidelines. <br /> Because the bridge has to be elevated up so high, there will need to be <br />modification to the Rice Creek west trail. <br /> Found a way for Irondale High School cross-country ski trail to co-exist with <br />this new trail in the same corridor. <br /> Trailhead midway with kiosk, benches, restroom Satellite and possible water <br />fountain. <br /> 12 foot boardwalk. <br /> Multi-use trail; will not be striped. <br /> Signage and kiosk at trailheads. <br />APPROVED <br />
