April 13, 2021 Page 1 of 7 <br />NEW <br />BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />building tomorrow today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />April 13, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic <br />this hybrid meeting was held both virtually and in person. <br />Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Allen, Axberg, and Dunsworth <br />Absent: Councilmember Abdulle <br />Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Ben Gozola-Assistant <br />Director of Community Assets and Development <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas welcomed Brenna Paetznick to the City Council Chambers noting <br />she was the Mayor for a day essay contest winner. Brenna Paetznick called the meeting to <br />order at 6:30 pm. <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Brenna Paetznick led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Approval of the April 13, 2021 Council Agenda. <br />Motion by Councilmember Axberg, seconded by Councilmember Dunsworth to approve <br />the agenda as submitted. <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Special Order of Business <br />1. Special Recognition of Brenna Paetznick, Mayor for a Day Essay Contest Winner. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas read Brenna Paetznick's League of Minnesota Cities essay in full for the record <br />and congratulated her for being the contest winner. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Brenna Paetznick thanked the Council for the recognition and explained she learned about the essay contest <br />from her dad <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated she was very proud of Brenna Paetznick for participating in this contest <br />and for being the winner.
