She indicated the EDC did not meet <br />last week. She reported the Union Gospel Mission would be holding their Celebration of Hope <br />on Friday night. <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas discussed the collective community trauma that has occurred over <br />the past year. She understood the community didn't have answers, but she wanted the public to <br />know this was something the Council was discussing and prioritizing. She indicated the City <br />was pursuing an Inclusive Community Commission and noted the Public Safety Department <br />was regularly reviewing the training and culture of the organization. She encouraged everyone <br />in New Brighton to work every day to create a community that was inclusive in all aspects. <br />She encouraged those with ideas on how to make this happen to reach out to herself of another <br />Councilmember. She requested residents continue to wear their masks and to stay distanced <br />even though people were starting to receive the vaccine. She wished everyone a holy season <br />and hoped it would be peaceful. She noted she attended a meeting that looked at green <br />initiatives and she appreciated the fact PREC wanted to dive deeper into this issue.
