Councilmember Abdulle appreciated the fact that the City was considering how to name the Midtown Village
park in order to ensure it was welcoming and inviting to all residents. He also appreciated the fact the City was
considering how to accept donations. Fink stated she was working on how to balance and honor people in the
community that make tremendous contributions to the City along with those to recognize organizations that
have a partnership with the City on a park. She noted she would work on this language further and would
report back to the Council.
Midtown Village Playground Structure Selection Process
Fink stated Parks and Recreation Staff have been working with the staff in DCAD to issue an RFP for the new
Midtown Village Play structure. Staff shared information on the results of the RFP, along with the new
selection methodology being used by staff to engage residents that lived within one-fourth mile of the park. It
was noted this was a smaller pocket park and the City was seeking feedback online from residents on which
playground structure should be selected.
Worksession adjourned at 6:30 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Terri Spangrud
City Clerk
