PIA/ AGENDA SECTION: Consent
REPORT DATE: June 16, 2021
BRIGHTONMEETING DATE: June 22, 2021
building tomorrow
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider Entering Reimbursement Agreement with Qwest
Corporation d/b/a CenturyLink QC, a Colorado corporation ("Lumen").
DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets &
Development C65
CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: Devin Mas p t, City Manager
No comments to supplement this report Comments attached
Recommendation: Enter Reimbursement Agreement with Qwest Corporation d/b/a CenturyLink
QC, a Colorado corporation ("Lumen").
Legislative History: NA
Financial Impact: NA
Explanation: During the design and planning process for Sewer Improvement Project 19-6, a
large duct containing extensive fiber optic communications cable was found above our existing
sewer pipe. Rather than relocate the fiber optic duct, the owner (Lumen) has agreed to pay for
the City to structurally line the sewer main and services beneath their facility. This work can be
conducted without excavation and the City has agreed to allow Lumen to stay in its location for
5 years without requesting them to relocate. To meet sewer demands the City redesigned a
sewer connection to serve Midtown Village and future development with a new sewer line on 8th
Avenue NW. Lumen will also reimburse the City for design and testing fees related to the
previous project, and pay for design services related to the lining project.
Craig G.
