January 26,2021 Page 2 of 5 <br /> A roll call vote was taken. <br /> 5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> Commission Minutes <br /> Commission Minutes <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas received the following minutes on behalf of the City: <br /> • Public Safety Commission Minutes from November 9,2020. <br /> • EDC Minutes from November 2,2021. <br /> Special Order of Business Special Order of <br /> 1. Presentation from John Connelly,President Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce Business <br /> John Connelly,President of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce,thanked the Council for their time.He <br /> stated he appreciated the resources the City of New Brighton provided to its local businesses during the <br /> pandemic.He reviewed the vision for the Chamber of Commerce and described how he works with the <br /> business community. He discussed the work he does with the New Brighton Business Council and explained <br /> he always enjoyed attending grand openings and ground breaking ceremonies. He indicated he works to visit <br /> local businesses in a safe manner each week and noted he spoke with DEED on a weekly basis to learn about <br /> grant opportunities. He stated he was proud of the annual social event that was held in December of 2020, <br /> noting$6,500 was raised for two local food shelves. He commented on the challenge's businesses faced in <br /> 2020 because of the pandemic and stated he looked forward to the economy recovering. <br /> Councilmember Dunsworth thanked Mr.Connelly for his presentation.She appreciated learning more about <br /> how the Chamber of Commerce was working with and helping local business owners. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas thanked Mr.Connelly for inviting her to attend the December Chamber of <br /> Commerce meeting. She explained the City was alert to some of the challenges they were facing but <br /> encouraged the Chamber to keep the City apprised of any new challenge's businesses were facing.She asked <br /> how many businesses in New Brighton were a part of the Chamber of Commerce.Mr.Connelly reported 35 <br /> New Brighton businesses were a part of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce. <br /> Consent Agenda <br /> Consent Agenda 1.
