April27,2021 Page 1 of 8 <br /> NEW <br /> BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> building tomorrow today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br /> April 27, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic <br /> this hybrid meeting was held both virtually and in person. <br /> Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Allen, Axberg, and Dunsworth <br /> Absent: <br /> Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Jennifer Fink-Parks <br /> and Recreation Director, Gina Smith-Interim Finance Director, Ben Gozola-Assistant <br /> Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> Call to Order Call to Order <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> Public Comment Forum Public Comment <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. Forum <br /> Teresa Crow, 463 9th Avenue SW, stated she had concerns about the near road where the <br /> Korean school used to be. She anticipated the new road would not be able to handle the amount <br /> of traffic that was coming from the new developments. She questioned how the adjacent <br /> neighbors felt about the 10 large buildings that had been constructed. She discussed how the <br /> housing market has been inflated over the past year. She expressed concern with the fact the <br /> new townhomes were priced well over$300,000, which was not affordable for first time home <br /> buyers. <br /> City Manager Massopust discussed the construction project the City had planned for the <br /> intersection of Old Highway 8 and 8th Avenue. <br /> Approval of Agenda Approval of Agenda <br /> Approval of the April 27,2021 Council Agenda. Approval of the <br /> Aril 27,2021 Agenda. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Dunsworth, seconded by Councilmember Axberg to approve <br /> the agenda as submitted. <br /> A roll call vote was taken. <br /> 5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br />
