Bids and Award of <br /> Contract for City <br /> CityManager Massopust indicated CommunityAssets and Development Director Schlichting would be Projecttr eh21 b 2021 <br /> g p p g Street Rehabilitation. <br /> presenting this item to the Council. <br /> Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting stated this project consists of the <br /> reconstruction of approximately 2.11 miles of residential streets by the reclamation of <br /> the existing bituminous surface and base material, removal and replacement of <br /> sections of concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer improvements, hydrant replacement, <br /> sanitary sewer improvements, street grading, bituminous surfacing, and boulevard repair <br /> on the following streets: <br /> Longview Drive - Silver Lake Road to Cedar Drive <br /> Cedar Drive - Longview Drive to 17th Avenue NW <br /> Brighton Lane - Longview Drive to Sunnyside Terrace <br /> 17th Avenue NW - Longview Drive to County Road H <br /> Sunbow Lane - Sunnyside Terrace to County Road H <br /> Sunnyside Terrace - Sunbow Lane to Long Lake Road <br /> Rainbow Lane - Sunnyside Terrace to County Road H <br /> Oriole Lane - Sunnyside Terrace to County Road H <br /> Long Lake Court - Long Lake Road to cul-de-sac <br /> 14th Avenue NW - 25th Street NW to County Road H <br /> Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting commented further on the proposed project and <br /> recommended the Council accept all bids and award the contract. <br /> Councilmember Dunsworth asked if the public hearing for this project had a number of residents that raised <br /> concerns regarding the assessment rate.Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting reported <br /> there is always a group of folks that come in and talk about the cost of said project.He stated after walking <br /> through the process and talk about the expense to replace a driveway,there was typically an understanding <br /> that this would cost more than the proposed$2,500 assessment <br /> Councilmember Dunsworth thanked staff for working with these residents. She stated she was pleased to <br /> learn that the existing aggregate could be reused as this would assist in keeping costs down. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas questioned when the public hearing was held for this improvement project <br /> Community Assets and Development Director Schlichting reported the public hearing was held on March 23, <br /> 2021. <br /> Councilmember Allen reported this street improvement project was 2.1 miles,which was more than has been <br /> done in the past <br /> Councilmember Abdulle stated he was very impressed by the bids the City received for this improvement <br /> project <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas asked if the City has worked with GMH Asphalt in the past Community Assets <br /> and Development Director Schlichting reported this company was fairly new to the city but does have <br /> experience with this type of work in other communities. <br />
