July 13,2021 Page 1 of 5 <br /> NE1�� <br /> BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> building tomorrow today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br /> July 13, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br /> Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Allen, Axberg and Dunsworth <br /> Absent: <br /> Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Gina Foschi-Interim <br /> Finance Director,Jennifer Fink-Parks and Recreation Director <br /> Call to Order Call to Order <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> Public Comment Forum Public Comment <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. Forum <br /> Michael Yates, 1138 Pike Lake Circle, stated he has lived in his home for the past 25 years. He <br /> requested the Council consider amending City Code to allow code enforcement to levy fines on <br /> owners of rental properties where there are excessive police calls. He explained he needs help <br /> with a rental property at 1150 Pike Lake Circle. He indicated over the past six years this <br /> property has had parties with over 75 guests lasting well past midnight, live bands, trailers <br /> parked in the backyard, target practice with shot guns, fireworks set off at random times, <br /> aggressive dogs, drug sales, loud cars, and domestic violence. He understood that many of his <br /> neighbors would not speak out against this property for fear of what may happen. He urged the <br /> Council to amend the existing code and take action against this property by levying fines <br /> against the property owner due to the excessive police calls or violations of City ordinance. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas asked that staff respond to this request and report back to the Council <br /> at a future worksession meeting. <br /> City Manager Massopust apologized to the neighbors of this problem property and stated staff <br /> would bring this item to the Council at a future worksession meeting. <br /> Approval of Agenda Approval of Agenda <br /> Approval of the July 13,2021 Council Agenda.
