July 27,2021 Page 1 of 6 <br /> NE1�� <br /> BRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> building tomorrow today THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br /> July 27, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br /> Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Allen, Axberg and Dunsworth <br /> Absent: <br /> Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney,Brenda Davitt- <br /> Financial Consultant, Jennifer Fink-Parks and Recreation Director, Ben Gozola- <br /> Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> Call to Order Call to Order <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance Pledge of Allegiance <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> Public Comment Forum Public Comment <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. Forum <br /> Approval of Agenda Approval of Agenda <br /> Approval of the July 27,2021 Council Agenda. Approval of the <br /> July 27,2021 Agenda. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Axberg, seconded by Councilmember Dunsworth to approve <br /> the agenda as submitted. <br /> 5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> Special Order of Business Special Order of <br /> 1. Accept Two Awards of Excellence from the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association for Business <br /> the Community Resource Group and Mission Possible. <br /> Parks and Recreation Director Fink stated the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association(MRPA) <br /> annually recognizes member agencies for outstanding programs,projects, and initiatives <br /> through its Awards of Excellence program. This distinguished recognition is for projects <br /> completed the previous year that score highly in regards to the Awards of Excellence program <br /> criteria. This year, this organization has selected the City of New Brighton Parks and <br /> Recreation Department to receive an Award of Excellence for its work in programming in both <br /> the Mission Possible Program and the Community Resource Group. <br /> Elizabeth Owens, MRPA committee member, presented the City with two Awards of <br /> Excellence on behalf of MRPA and the Awards Committee. She congratulated the City for its <br /> tremendous efforts on behalf of the community. A round of applause was offered by all in <br /> attendance. <br /> Councilmember Allen thanked staff for taking on both of these initiatives during the COVID- <br />
