She indicated she would like to learn more about how <br /> students of color perceive the interactions with SROs at a future worksession meeting. She believed there <br /> was a good story to tell. <br /> Councilmember Abdulle thanked Director Paetznick for his comments.He explained this matter was more <br /> complicated than him just meeting with an SRO. He indicated there were things that were traumatic in <br /> today's environment.He stated he would appreciate the Council creating a space to discuss this matter further. <br /> He did not want the Council coming from a place of assuming or privilege on this topic. <br /> Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas clarified that she had encouraged the Public Safety team to come in and show the <br /> Council what was going on with SROs. She explained she was not trying to pretend what someone else's <br /> experience was. He <br /> stated the DEI position was now posted. He noted the City had also posted for the Finance <br /> Director position. <br /> Graeme Allen <br /> Councilmember Allen reported the Public Safety Commission met on August 9 and the group <br /> discussed recruitment and retention of officers. He explained the City had great weather for <br /> Stockyard Days. He noted he had a great time with his colleagues at the parade. He stated he <br /> was pleased the City would be moving forward with a community survey. <br /> Emily Dunsworth <br /> Councilmember Dunsworth reported PREC would be meeting on September 1 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> She encouraged residents to use caution when driving in the community because students <br /> would be going back to school on Tuesday, September 7. She wished her parents a happy 47th <br /> wedding anniversary. <br /> Pam Axberg <br /> Councilmember Axberg reported the EDC was working on their business outreach program. <br /> She noted the EDC would meet next on September 1 at 7:30 a.m. She thanked the Council for <br /> the thoughtful discussions that were held this evening. <br /> Abdullahi Abdulle <br /> Councilmember Abdulle reported the Planning Commission met on August 17. He noted he <br /> attended a social event with the Ramsey County League of Local Government two weeks ago. <br />
