He commented further on the crime stats from 2021 noting violent crime was <br />down while thefts were up. <br /> <br />Abdullahi Abdulle <br />Councilmember Abdulle reported the Planning Commission meeting was canceled for <br />February. <br /> <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas reported the Equity Commission met last Thursday and received a <br />presentation from Lisa Tabor from CultureBrokers and discussed Juneteenth becoming a <br />holiday celebrated by the City of New Brighton. She explained the Council was preparing a <br />State of the City video with Nine North. She indicated a community survey was being <br />prepared and encouraged residents to participate if they receive a survey. She then discussed <br />the information the League of Women Voters have on the metro area County governments. <br />She stated Ramsey County Attorney John Choi would be attending an upcoming worksession <br />meeting with the City Council to discuss the uptick in crime. She commented on the State’s <br />redistricting noting New Brighton would now be represented by two different Senate districts <br />and two separate Representatives.
