February 22, 2022 Page 1 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />February 22, 2022 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Due to the COVID-19 <br />pandemic this hybrid meeting was held both virtually and in person. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Allen and Axberg <br />Absent: Councilmember Dunsworth <br /> <br />Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Gina Smith-Interim <br />Finance Director, Ben Gozola-Assistant Director of Community Assets and <br />Development <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Approval of the February 22, 2022 Council Agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Axberg, seconded by Councilmember Abdulle to approve the <br />agenda as submitted. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was taken. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />1. Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission Year in Review <br /> <br />Chair Matt Johnson provided the Council with a presentation from the Parks, Recreation and Environmental <br />Commission (PREC). He discussed the primary responsibilities and purpose of PREC noting the <br />Commission had nine members. He thanked staff liaison Jennifer Fink for all of her efforts on behalf of the <br />group. He reported PREC meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. He reported PREC <br />focused on a facility/naming plan, assisted with naming Brightside Park, supported an Outdoor Recreation <br />Grant, the Midtown Village playground, home energy audits, along with receiving DCAD and DEI updates <br />in 2021. He stated he was proud of the parks and recreation facilities in this community.
