<br />11 <br />Figure 8 summarizes residential conservation program participation for the past three <br />years. Total participation in residential conservation programs has declined slightly <br />since 2015, with 9 in 100 premises participating in an Xcel Energy conservation <br />program in 2017. In 2017, Fridley residents saved 209,351 kWh and 79,647 therms, <br />representing 0.9 percent of total residential energy use. Residential program <br />participation has been highest in home efficiency rebates, primarily tied to replacement <br />of heating and cooling equipment. <br />Figure 8: Residential Conservation Improvement Program Participation14 <br /> <br /> <br />Figure 9 shows that commercial and industrial program participation rates have been <br />slightly higher than residential sector participation over the past three years – 7 in 50 <br />commercial premises participated in an Xcel Energy conservation improvement <br />program in 2017. Lighting and natural gas equipment rebates have been most popular <br />among commercial and industrial customers.
