FRIDLEY ENERGY ACTION PLAN <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />How Are We Going To Get There? – Actionable Strategies <br />The following sections detail actionable strategies to achieve the goals outlined in this <br />plan. The Energy Action Team worked in teams to create strategies they believed would <br />have high impact and measurable results. <br />In addition to strategies listed within each focus area, there are general strategies that <br />fall within the scope of all four focus areas to broadly address energy efficiency and <br />renewable energy throughout the community. These include: <br /> Providing general informational materials through City communication channels, <br />including website, newsletter, social media, and events; <br /> Leveraging existing City relationships and programs to promote targeted energy- <br />saving and renewable energy opportunities; and <br />•Reduce energy use 5 percent by 2020, and 20 percent by 2030, as <br />compared to business as usual. <br />Community-wide Goal <br />•By 2020, Fridley residents will take 1,200 additional actions toward energy <br />conservation and renewable energy. <br />•By 2030, residents will reduce total energy use 10 percent, as compared to <br />business as usual. <br />Residential Energy <br />•By 2020, business and multifamily buildings will achieve 5 percent energy <br />savings. <br />•By 2030, business and multifamily buildings will reduce total energy use 20 <br />percent, as compared to business as usual. <br />Businesses and Multifamily Buildings <br />•By 2020, institutions will achieve 5 percent energy savings. <br />•By 2030, institutions will reduce total energy use 15 percent, as compared <br />to business as usual. <br />Institutions <br />•By 2020, conduct an outreach campaign to raise awareness about electric <br />vehicles, with the goal of reaching 500 residents and individuals who work <br />in Fridley. <br />•By 2020, reach 10 businesses and multifamily buildings through a targeted <br />outreach campaign to encourage installation of charging infrastructure. <br />•By 2020, install one electric vehicle charging station at a City-owned <br />building or location. <br />Transportation and Electric Vehicles
