<br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />March 2, 2022 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Johnson. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic <br />this meeting was held virtually. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Pauline Alfors, Gary Bank, Kristin Hicks, Amelia Kuiper, Matt <br />Johnson (Chair), Julia O’Rourke, Lara Sokol-Kraft, and Michael Spooner. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Charles Warner. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Candace Amberg with WSB; and Council Member Emily <br />Dunsworth. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Alfors, seconded by Bank to approve the agenda as presented. A roll call vote was <br />taken. Motion carried 8-0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by O’Rourke, seconded by Hicks to approve the February 2, 2022 minutes as presented. <br />A roll call vote was taken. Motion carried 7-0-1 (Chair Johnson abstained). <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Lions Park Splash Pad <br /> <br />Director Fink and shared an update on the site plan for Lions Park and potential concepts <br />for a splash pad. She reviewed an aerial of Lions Park noting the railroad was planning to <br />put up a fence for safety purposes and noted this could impact future trails. She discussed <br />the location of the restroom facilities and noted they would be operational in 2022. It was <br />noted the adjacent pond would be used for drainage purposes and irrigation within Lions <br />Park. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• The Commission asked if the pond within Lions Park was fenced and it was noted the <br />pond was not fenced, nor would it be fenced going forward.
