March 22, 2022 Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, <br />March 22, 2022 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas, Councilmembers Abdulle, Axberg, and Dunsworth <br />Absent: Councilmember Allen <br /> <br />Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Gina Smith-Interim <br />Finance Director, Craig Schlichting-Community and Assets Development Director, <br />Dustin Lind-Engineering Supervisor, Ben Gozola-Assistant Director of Community <br />Assets and Development <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Niedfeldt-Thomas opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br /> <br />Teresa Crow, 463 9th Avenue SW, stated she was concerned about the lack of affordable <br />housing in New Brighton. She explained the new townhouses built on the old Korean School <br />site were priced in the low $300,000. She did not believe this was affordable housing given <br />the businesses in New Brighton. She reported the jobs paying $16 to $19 per hour would not <br />allow for employees to pay for a $300,000 townhouse. She encouraged the City to have more <br />housing that reflected the jobs within the community. She then expressed frustration with the <br />lack of notice the City provided residents for the upcoming meeting about restructuring Old <br />Highway 8. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Approval of the March 22, 2022 Council Agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Abdulle, seconded by Councilmember Dunsworth to approve <br />the agenda as submitted. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
