Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: Adopt the proclamation designating May 15 through May 21, 2022 as National <br />Police Week in the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Legislative History: The City has previously proclaimed this week as National Police Week. <br />President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 designating May 15th <br />as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as Police Week. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: n/a <br /> <br />Explanation: Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance in the United <br />States that pays tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have <br />died, or who have been disabled, in the line of duty. Suburban Ramsey County <br />Law Enforcement Agencies have formally recognized and participated in <br />National Police Week in recognition of the sacrifice of law enforcement officers <br />for several years.
