cÜÉvÄtÅtà|ÉÇ <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS Pletschers’ Greenhouses, Inc has been family owned and operated since 1920 when <br />John Pletscher started selling his vegetables and plants; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS after World War 2, his three sons John, Robert, and Glen joined him in expanding the <br />family business by building more greenhouses, including one of the first commercial <br />aluminum greenhouses in Minnesota, and by building a retail florist shop and new <br />garden center; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS Pletschers’ Greenhouses, Inc currently has 15 greenhouses with a total of 45,000 <br />square feet where the family grows seasonal plants, flowers, and garden plants for retail <br />and wholesale industries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS for a majority of the City’s history, the Pletscher family and their employees have been <br />an integral part of our community as they participate in our Stockyard Day parades and <br />distribute flowers to attendees; celebrate birthdays, holidays and anniversaries with <br />our residents as well as the entire Twin Cities area; mourn with our community as they <br />provide flowers for our loved ones’ funerals; and, consistently announce the official <br />arrival of spring with their pansies and annual spring Open Houses; <br /> <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE I, Kari Niedfeldt-Thomas, Mayor of The City of New Brighton, Minnesota do <br />hereby proclaim Sunday, October 9, 2022: <br /> <br />Pletschers’ Day <br /> <br />in the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minnesota to be affixed this ninth day of October, 2022. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Kari Niedfeldt-Thomas – MAYOR <br />
