cÜÉvÄtÅtà|ÉÇ CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />WHEREAS One-Hundred-Fifty-Six individuals from New Brighton and our neighboring communities <br />applied to serve as an Election Judge; attended a 2 ½ hour training to become certified as <br />required by state law; attended an additional 2 hours of hands-on Poll Pad training; spent time <br />reviewing the eighty-page 2022 Election Judge Guide produced by the MN Secretary of State’s <br />office; and, worked in the polls anywhere from 7 hours to 16 hours on Election Day; and <br />WHEREAS A large number of these Election Judges also volunteered to perform extra election-related tasks <br />outside of traditional election day work such as taking extra training and bringing voting to <br />New Brighton’s 4 Residential Health Care Facilities; spending hours helping staff pack supply <br />bins and prepare direction packets; driving election materials to Ramsey County Elections in <br />St. Paul 3 to 5 times a week during the absentee voting and early voting periods for both 2022 <br />elections; and, attending extra training to serve as Election Day Registration Specialists - a <br />newly created role in our polling places; and <br />WHEREAS the Seventeen individuals who were appointed to serve as Head Election Judges and Assistant <br />Head Election Judges - New Brighton’s polling place supervisors – each completed an <br />additional 2 hours of training before each election in 2022; spent untold hours working to make <br />sure every election judge who was working under them knew what to expect on election day <br />and had all of their questions answered; and, took extra time to organize and set-up the polling <br />place, meet with the polling place facility staff to ensure they were prepared for election day, <br />and undergo election night auditing activities; and <br />WHEREAS Eight individuals were appointed to work in our Absentee / Early Voting Room at the New <br />Brighton Community Center, serving as Absentee Voting / Statewide Voting Registration <br />System Specialists, spending 8 – 10 hours a day for the 46 days before the August 9, 2022 <br />Primary Election and the 46 days before the November 8, 2022 General Election to help voters <br />cast their ballot early at the New Brighton Community Center. They also assisted professional <br />election staff by completing administrative tasks, answering questions from voters and spent <br />extra time preparing a fun Halloween voting activity for kids; <br />NOW, THEREFORE I, KARI NIEDFELDT-THOMAS, Mayor of the City of New Brighton, <br />do hereby wish to say thank you to and extend the City’s deepest gratitude and appreciation for: <br />New Brighton’s 2022 Election Judges <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New Brighton, Minnesota to be <br />affixed this 22 day of November 2022. <br />KARI NIEDFELDT-THOMAS - MAYOR
