<br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick stated he hired his 29th police officer today, which was good news for his <br />organization. He discussed the training this officer would be receiving over the next four <br />months. He reported this week was national fire prevention week and noted public education <br />would be occurring at local schools. He stated an open house for the fire division would be <br />held on Monday, October 24 at the Public Safety Department from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. He <br />reported Sergeant Farmer would be receiving a Leadership in Community Policing Award at <br />the National Chiefs of Police Conference for his work with the police/faith partnership <br />program that has been in place since 2016. He explained he reviewed the community survey <br />results with his staff. He commented the Public Safety Department would be hosting all <br />hazards incident management team training. He then discussed the work being done by the <br />County’s Appropriate Response Committee. He stated Drive 25 yard signs were available at <br />the Community Center. He commented on the multi-cultural drivers education program that <br />was held in August and noted the City would be receiving a $13,000 grant from the State to <br />further this program. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Graeme Allen, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Allen provided the Commission with an update from the City Council. He <br />reported the Council would be discussing the City’s housing stock at its next meeting, along <br />with considering a Resolution that supports the City moving to debt-free streets by 2025. He <br />explained the Council continues to work on a residential rental housing policy. He stated the <br />City received a presentation on the vision for the Silver Lake Road corridor and approved a <br />preliminary tax levy for 2023. It was noted the final levy and budget would be approved in <br />December. He invited the public to attend the Pumpkin Walk on Saturday, October 29 from <br />5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Veterans Park. He discussed the electric charging stations that were <br />being installed at City Hall, the Public Safety Department, Community Center, and other City <br />properties. He indicated he attended the Tails on the Trails event on Sunday, October 9. He <br />stated Pletcher’s was recognized for their 100 years in the community on Sunday by the New <br />Brighton Historical Society. <br /> <br />VII. Adjournment <br /> <br />Motion by Valdizan, seconded by Boyd to adjourn the meeting at 8:06 p.m. A roll call vote was <br />taken.
